In Cats and Cash, Play'N GO has concentrated on such classics as Wheel of Fortune and Deal or No Deal. If you're a wee bit fortunate with the bonus features, you get to spin a wheel of fortune and then pick from bags on a staircase. Cats and Cash has the same bonus features as those classics, with the addition of a paytable for the basic game that has likewise been upgraded from the cat-themed slot's predecessor.

If you picture the character in game shows, you probably picture it in just shows with the sparkle and the glamour, the almost incessant applause from the audience, the jazzy background music, and the fabulous hostesses and presenters who practically drip with swagger. The enhanced version of Cats and Cash from 2012 features game concepts that are typical of Play'n GO. The game has 15 adjustable pay lines strung across five reels and three rows. Three-in-a-row is the basic rule for landing a win in this game, although some symbols also award a win for two-in-a-row.

In Cats and Cash, all three bet parameters can be adjusted. You can play with 1 – 15 lines, bet values ranging from 0.10 to 10.00 coin units, and from 1 to 5 coins per line; this allows for total bets ranging from 1.50 to 750.00 per game round. Autoplay and Play'N Go's new automatic feature for Quick Play are included in the palette.

Cats and Cash is a slot that is able to bring in really hefty winnings. For instance, the Joker pays up to 10,000 coins on his own. Line up five Jokers for this huge win. Even the two bonus games can spawn real winnings. With high maximum profits, the ''risk'' almost automatically becomes of the higher kind. Cats and Cash is not a slot that hands you wins every other spin. In this regard, it is kind of stingy. But then, it could be said that it is an easily played game that gives good chances for good wins. When it slams shut, it does it with authority. And yet, in terms of payback, it is hardly impressive: an RTP of 96.07% is not really in the upper echelon.

Symbols

Deliciously, there are not a lot of "fill-in symbols" of the playing card type on the reels. In Cats and Cash, instead, all symbols are uniquely designed. There are four icons that can be said to be character symbols. They represent the host of the show, his assistant, as well as two contestants. Interestingly, these symbols are not the more high-paying ones. This role goes instead to the gold bars, the diamond jewelry, and the bundles of banknotes.

Also, there exist four special symbols. One is for when to multiply. Another depicts a goldfish joyfully jumping up and down in its bowl.

Jokers

The joker can serve as a stand-in for all symbols except the scatter. As I've mentioned, the joker is a generous icon. Line up several jokers in a row and your return will be, shall we say, eye-popping. And if the joker happens to turn up in a winning combination, it grants a generous 2x on the entire payout.

Scatters

The goldfish that leaps around in its tank is the scatter. To land a cash award, you must place your paws on at least two of these. Five of them in a line gives you the maximum win: 400 times your wager. Because there is no free spins bonus in this game, the scatter is essentially a paying symbol.

Lucky wheel bonus

One of the two bonus symbols represents a wheel of Fortune. You don't have to be Einstein or Tesla to understand that this particular icon shows the way to the bonus game in which you get to play on a wheel of Fortune. Landing three or more bonus symbols on a Payline will give you access to the bonus. Note that the symbols must be consecutive on reels 1-3.

Fortune's wheel offers many different kinds of coin wins. With luck, you will win up to 5000 times the line bet. With less luck, you win 100 times the line bet, which is not a bad consolation. Some of the fields on the wheel are starred. If you land on a starred field, you get to spin again.

Choose a gift-bonus

The second bonus symbol shows a parcel artfully encased in crimson wrapping, with a golden ribbon elaborately set to one side. For this symbol also, it must appear in sequence on an active Payline, starting from the first reel.

Play'N Go has not done much to dress up the selection of gift Bonus in the deal or no deal TV format. You simply choose a box of ten pieces on a staircase. Here, you can win up to 2000 times your line bet.

Summary

Cash and Cats has always been a relatively popular slot from Play'n Go. Since its initial launch in 2012, the slot has seen millions upon millions of spins taken on it. What keeps players attracted to the game though are the big wins that can be had in the bonus rounds. One handy hit in that round and your game balance literally explodes in a rain of coins.

Cats and Cash is a decent slot in terms of graphics and sound, we think. It's also nice that Play'N GO has eliminated the frustrating turns in the various bonuses. However, we can't help but feel that you're just better off with a free spins round, and it is frustrating that we can't seem to get one in this slot. Most of the other negative aspects we see in this game (e.g. its high volatility and the very big focus on these bonus features) seem to us like they're just a few ways that Play'N GO has cooked up to give us less of a game and more of an experience.
