Dream Catcher
Dream Catcher by Evolution Gaming
Evolutions very first game in the new Live Money wheel category has the title Dream Catcher. And for all of you who have ever played at Bingolotto and followed the evening program on TV, Dream Catcher will give you a real flashback and a lot of nice memories. The game is anything but a standard virtual table game, and the only thing that really reminds you of previous game releases is that the concept includes a live host and there is money to be won.
Dream Catcher features one big wheel that spins and stops randomly, selecting one of 54 different fields. Of these, only 1, 2, 5, and 10 hold any value; they're like the numbers on a roulette wheel. When the wheel finally stops, wherever it may land, that value (if we can call it that) is then paid off to those players who bet on it, and the game's over. Well, not quite, because if the wheel happens to land on a 2, 5, or 10 (value again), said player has the chance to roll again. And quite simply, to maximize the entertainment factor and the potential for monetary gain, evolution has added multipliers.
This is how you play
The game's concept is very simple. The wheel consists of 54 different fields, in colors and numbers. Two of these are multipliers that, in the case of a hit, would dictate that the outcome of the next spin be multiplied by the number in the multiplier field. Meanwhile, the player must simply select one of the numbers listed to bet on, 1 or 2 or 5 or 10 or 20 or 40, opting for whatever seems most likely to him as far as where the spike at the top in the middle will stop.
It is equally simple to monitor the leaderboard since the payout odds correspond with the figures. For instance, a victorious wager of 5 pays out at 5 to 1, 10 pays out at 10 to 1, and so forth.
The dealer then gives the wheel a spin, and the winning number is indicated by the meter at the top center of the wheel. The meter is also the thing that stops on the wheel, just like in several generations of TV boxes.
Features & Multipliers
One of the bonus features of Dream Catcher is the multipliers. There are two fields opposite each other on the wheel that are black and marked with "multiplier." One field has a 2 and the other a 7. Should the wheel stop on any of these fields, the next winning number is multiplied by either 2 or 7, depending on which field the wheel stopped at.
For example, the wheel may stop on a multiplier of x2 while the next spin stops on Number 5. If the player then bets on 5 on the initial spin that resulted in the x2 multiplication, the payout for Number 5 is (5 to 1) x2 = 10 to 1.
However, it is also possible for the wheel to remain on the multipliers multiple times in a row, which would lead to multiplying the payouts that the player has already accumulated. The result of all of these accumulations can lead to a very sweet pay day. Here's an example of how that can work out if one has mastered the game of Dream Catcher.
The wheel may stop on the multiplier x2, but all players' bets stay as they are when a multiplier is activated. If the next spin would land on the multiplier x7, and after that spin stay on Number 5, then the win would be significantly larger. Players who had then bet on Number 5 could expect a payout of (5 to 1) x2 X 7 = (10 to 1) X7 = 70 to 1.
Summary
Dream Catcher from Evolution Gaming is among the first online casino games in its category, and that alone makes it interesting. But it also has a couple of excellent features that set it apart from other online casino offerings and make it quite fun to play. To start, players have significantly fewer numbers to bet on than sections on the wheel, which translates to decent odds. Then there are the multipliers, which pump up the potential payouts and eliminate any sense of consequence when playing because you're simply going to be cashing in or not. You could make an argument for this being similar to the excitement of hitting a big win in a video slot when you're just playing to play and not really considering your budget. And hey, this is a live game with a real host and atmosphere.
