About Ave Caesar Castle
Greet the Ancient Romans with a big wave from their Motherland! We're in 65 BCE, and the Roman Empire is battling around half of Europe, while a ridiculously good-tasted soap opera is unfolding at the emperor's place and in the Senate. Gear up for some primo drama and action!
When you access Ave Caesar at the nearest virtual casino exhibiting games from Blueprint, you are catapulted into the prestigious Roman forum. You are introduced to the likes of Julius Caesar and Hannibal (who, in this interpretation, bears a suspicious resemblance to Asterix), and the Centurion Maximus—yes, you are hanging with Caesar—in a number of scenarios that suggest train rides on both land and in the bedchamber (yes, that too). The creators of this game, Leander Games, have seemingly put noses to the grindstone to come up with what is—by all appearances—a new and unique slot experience.
The design looks very stylish. Leander Games has opted to combine graphics that are more faithful with cartoonish renditions of the principal characters. The mix they have created is beautiful and a tad humorous and still manages to offer a small measure of authenticity. I catch glimpses of columns and buildings worthy of a temple behind the transparent wheel. This is so pretty that "pretty" hardly seems to be sufficient as an adjective!
The typical depiction of the ancient Roman Empire is that it provided a life of high drama. The game designers at Leander Games have paid attention to this. The "base game" has a background score that tells a very clearly dramatic story, with asides from the gnawing horses, orders being shouted by centurions, and trumpet blasts that are part of the sound effects.
You might be thinking that playing is somewhat difficult with all this. The answer is no. There are 20 lines that run across the five reels and three rows, and you place between 0.05 – 15$ per line.
Stakes and winnings
Ave Caesar allows participation in the entertainment for as little as $1 per spin. If you increase the line bet to maximum, you're playing for $300. That's a pretty small maximum bet compared to some new online slots, and Leander Games might very well increase it in the future.
The embarrassingly simple autoplay function is twisted just enough to make it unappealing to use. The developers of the game clearly do not want us to rush through the game but want us to play every spin 'for real'.
The Ave Caesar slot has a max win set at 50,000 coins. If we translate that into plain cash, it means you can win up to $750,000. The recipe? A full screen with the Cezar symbol. There's also the chance to hit the game's constantly growing jackpot. Read more about that below.
The Return to Player (RTP) of Ave Caesar is 96% on average. This return encompasses a few primary elements, and the total jackpot amount paid out is one of those primary elements. In Ave Caesar, the contribution to the jackpot from every average spin is about 3%. Therefore, from the perspective of base play, the player has an expected RTP of about 93% with Ave Caesar. There's no denying that this is a low average return for an online slot, but in return for that low RTP, the payer does have the decent shot at hitting a nice jackpot every now and then.

Symbols
Leander Games has included ten icons that pay in the reels, one of which also pays as a wild. The most valuable icon of the bunch is Caesar. The game's logo—a centurion, a soldier, and one of the emperor's conquests—act as the other character symbols. The low-win symbols are the numbers 1 through 5, represented as Roman numerals. The game's designers have chosen not to use the so-called classic playing card symbols.
There are five bonus symbols that don't pay directly. You can read about them below!
Game features
Ave Caesar provides an excellent range of standout features. They are also unique, and they are shown in such a manner that even our seasoned slot testers from the U.S. are left in awe!
Hannibal's Heroes
Are you familiar with Hannibal? He was a warlord from Carthage who caused the Romans a lot of trouble. However, he is probably most famously known for his campaign across the Alps, with a bunch of elephants accompanying him.
At any moment during a spin and shine, Hannibal and his elephants can show up and parade across the screen. When this occurs, wilds tumble down from the top of the screen. One can only hope that as many of them as possible will be coming down. You should keep in mind, however, that this is not a guaranteed event, and false alerts can happen.
The Gaul bonus
A gill with a red beard and fancy striped pants can little by little visit Rome. He can hurl an attack at the Eternal City (against the screen). And every big bautasten thrown at the reels can turn into Mystery symbols. When the dust settles, all mystery symbols can show one and the same paying icon.
Ave Caesar
Sometimes the fun is just too much for the emperor to miss out on! In the feature Ave Caesar bonus, he gets down from his throne and presents you with six pieces of parchment. Choose one and reveal an immediate win. You could be winning big, activating a bonus game, or even getting a "five in a row" guarantee!
Centurion Maximus bonuses
There is even more. A fat centurion can call his soldiers and order them to make an aboutface. The result is either one or two symbols of the size 2×2 with positions or a symbol of size 3×3 with positions.
Four bonus games
The bonus symbols show up on the first, third, and fifth reels. The same icon is present on the first and third reels. Which of the four possible bonus symbols appears on the fifth reel dictates what type of special event you get to play.
- Caesars Conquests:
- In this bonus, you steer the emperor to pavilions that conceal lovely women. It's a classic point-and-click game, and the payoff for each "conquest" is a handful of coins.
- Roman Empire:
- Should a map symbol appear on the fifth reel, you decide where the emperor will lead his troops in the land-conquest portion of the adventure. Every land conquest brings tinker time at the cash register.
Jackpot
Ave Caesar has been graced with the presence of a progressive jackpot. It is something special, as it nears the unprecedented sum of just under $117,000, which we here in New Zealand call dollars. The closer it gets to the maximum, the more likely it seems that it will payout. And the size of the BET has a direct connection to the size of the chance of winning.
Swap bonus game
Winning a bonus game (except Druid Free Spins) gives you the opportunity to exchange the bonus. To do this, you have four boards for a Legionnaire to shoot at. Of course, the more arrows that hit the boards, the better your chances of hitting the right board and exchanging the bonus.
Summary
Leander Games slot Ave Caesar has left us with a favorable impression—it's easy to see why. The developers have worked hard to imbue the base game with four random specials and not one, but four bonus modes. Toss in the wild symbols, which appear with such frequency that they could almost be described as a fifth mode, and what you have is a game that is positively brimming with features, many of which are actually pretty cool.
Negatively, we must state that the game's Payback is a little bit stingy. Of course, we understand that the jackpot has to be replenished, but the pennies that go into the jackpot pool are quite large.
