Theme I Pistoleras

Here we have a bunch of fiery ladies with their rifles and revolvers at their best! That's what awaits in the slot machine Pistoleras from Microgaming. Prepare for a trip to the U.S. – Mexico Borderland-a fascinating but sometimes dangerous place where anything can happen once the sun goes down. So Cork up your cerveza or spill a shot of tequila (not too much just – alcohol, as you know, affects judgment!) and plunge into the heat of battle among curvy bandits and sacks filled with money.

Pistoleras

Arrangements and interventions

Pistoleras is a modern video slot machine of standard execution – that is, with 5 reels and 3 rows. From left to right, 25 paylines run in different patterns. These paylines are fixed, meaning you can't bet on fewer than 25 at a time. However, there are of course other possibilities to adjust your bet. If you click on “BET” (or “Bet” if you are playing on an English version), you will be presented with a menu where you can change the coin value and the number of coins wagered per Payline. By clicking through here you can set a bet of within the range the casino sets. Pistoleras is therefore a slot machine that is particularly suitable for those who like to use a little higher stakes.

Wins

All right-let's take a closer look at how you go about winning in Pistoleras. We have already mentioned that there are 25 paylines in the game. It is along these lines that you should line up combinations of symbols, from left and right, to win. It's not really harder. Generally speaking, 3 symbols of the same type are used for winning. If we look at the regular symbols, we can quickly see that the different weapon-carrying ladies give higher winnings than the card symbols (A, K, Q, J, 10).

However, you can get even bigger wins through the game's special symbols and features, which we'll take a look at next.

Symbols and functions

Wild symbols
The game's wild symbol is represented by the Pistoleras logo. Wilds can provide really big wins on their own – up to 40 times the line bet. But it is their ability to replace other symbols that is most distinctive. Wilds can substitute for all other symbols with the exception of scatters. This means that a wild can help you complete a combination that would otherwise not have won, or improve winning combinations. All wins where wilds are included are also tripled.

Regular scatters and free spins
The game has two types of scatter symbols, but first let's check out the “regular” one represented by a classic Wild West cart. 2 or more scatters anywhere on the screen will give you a cash win. If you get 3 or more, free spins are also activated. 3 scatters give 10 free spins, 4 give 20 free spins and 5 give 25 free spins. During these free rounds, all wins are multiplied by 3, and the pistoleras symbols (the curvy women) can appear stacked on all reels. You can activate more free rounds during ongoing free spins, and you can also activate the bonus game, which we'll get to next.

Bonus scatter
The scatter symbol with a money bag can lead you to the integrated bonus mode of the game. Here you get 12 targets. Behind each board are different symbols, and your goal is to get three matching symbols before the bonus round is over. There are also wild symbols behind 3 of the targets, and these, as usual, make it easier for you to win.

Graphics and sound

We have the impression that you either like or dislike the Western theme itself – scantily dressed women may not feel like the most stylish choice in 2015, while we scarcely think that they will disappear entirely in the future either. Regardless of what you have as opinions about this depiction, the graphics in Pistoleras are particularly well made without perhaps standing out especially much from the crowd. We are talking well-made hand-painted graphics with warm colours that feel like they were taken from an illustrated adventure book from the 1950s.

What about the sound? No major oddities here. The background noise consists mostly of a quiet ringing that brings to mind the atmosphere inside a land-based casino. Winnings are accompanied by small fanfares, and when you enter the freespin mode, a fiery Spanish guitar pulls off, creating the right western mood.

Summary

Pistoleras has a layout that is very similar to other new slots from Microgaming. The graphics and sound are nice and well made without perhaps feeling so groundbreaking. There are plenty of special features in the game – here we find wilds with multiplier, two kinds of scatter symbols as well as an integrated bonus game. If you like the Wild West theme and the idea of curvy, gun – wielding women, there's not much to wait for-give the game a spin right away.
